Add a shared mailbox in Outlook
Open Outlook
Choose File → Info → Add Account
Enter the email address of the shared mailbox you want to add, and then choose Advanced options and Tick “Let me set up my account manually”
Choose Connect
Choose Microsoft 365
When asked to sign in, enter your own Essex email address and password. Do not enter the shared mailbox email address. You may need to approve the multifactor authentication (MFA) request.
Depending on which version of Outlook you are using, you may need to choose Sign in with another account first.
Choose No, sign in to this app only.
Important Next Step
Uncheck “Use Cached Exchange Mode to download email to an Outlook data file” and then choose Next.
Close Outlook, wait a few seconds, and then open Outlook again.
The shared mailbox will now appear in your Outlook on the left-hand side.
Troubleshooting
If you do not have permission to access the mailbox, you should receive an error message or the mailbox will display as empty.
