This article will guide you through connecting to eduroam wifi on a Windows.


Instructions

  1. From the desktop, click the WiFi Icon

    1. Bottom right of the screen

  2. Select eduroam from the list of Available WiFi Networks

  3. Enter your University email address and password

  4. Click OK

  1. Check the ‘Connect automatically’ box

  2. Click Connect

  3. If prompted for a security certificate alert, click Continue

✅ You should now be connected to eduroam WiFi.

Instructions

  1. Right-click on the wireless icon

    1. Bottom-right of the screen

  2. Click Open Network and Sharing Center

  1. Click Manage Wireless Networks

  1. Click Add

  1. Click Manually Create a Network Profile

  1. Use the following settings:

Network Name

eduroam

Security Type

WPA2-Enterprise

Encryption Type

AES

Security Key

Leave Blank

  1. Ensure that “Start this connection automatically” is unchecked

  2. Click Next

  3. Click Change Connection Settings

  1. Check “Connect automatically when this network is in range”

  2. Click the Security Tab

  1. For “Choose a network authentication method” choose Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)

  2. Click Settings

  1. Uncheck “Validate server certificate”


Troubleshooting

Connect previously on your device?

If you have previously connected to eduroam on the same device and are experiencing issues, try forgetting the eduroam network, restarting your machine and re-connecting.

 How to forget a wifi network connection
  1. Select Start menu in your taskbar at the bottom left of your screen

  2. Go to Settings and then Network & Internet

  3. Select wifi on the left menu, then select Manage known networks

  4. Select eduroam, then click Forget

  5. Now, try reconnecting to wifi by re-entering your username and password
