Connect to eduroam for Android 13+

Instructions

These instructions are for Android devices running Android 13+ and newer Pixel devices as additional steps are required to connect to our Eduroam network.

  1. Navigate to Settings

  2. Tap Network & Internet

  3. Tap Internet

 

  1. Enable Wi-Fi If Applicable

  2. Tap eduroam

 

 

  1. Enter the following settings and tap Connect

Don/t Validate or Use System Certificates

Identity

Your University Email Address

Password

Your University Password

Leave Blank or essex.ac.uk

 

 

  1. Open a web browser such as Google Chrome

  2. Tap on the address bar at the top of the screen

  3. Type essex.ac.uk/it/eduroam.crt

    1. You may be asked to allow the website to download the file

    2. Tap Allow

  4. Tap Close

 

  1. Navigate to Settings on your device

  2. Tap Security & Privacy

    1. You may need to scroll down toward the bottom of the current menu

  3. Tap More Security Settings

  4. Tap Encryption & Credentials

  1. Tap Install a Certificate

  2. Tap Wi-Fi Certificate

 

  1. Tap the file named eduroam.crt

  2. Name it eduroam

  3. Tap OK

    1. You may receive an error message, you can ignore it

 

  1. Return to step 6 and change the settings to the following:

    1. Yellow = Changes to Previous Settings
