You can print from any computer on campus, or from your personal laptop, phone or tablet using our mobile print service. Printers are conveniently located all over campus, usually in or near to study spaces where there are computers.

When you print, your document is sent to the printer and held in a secure queue for 8 hours. After then your document is automatically deleted from the queue unless you delete it before then.


Print from a Campus PC

  1. Log on to any Campus PC and open the file you wish to print.

  2. Click File>Print. Choose Student Managed Print from the printer list (it should be the default option) and print your file.

  3. Go to collect your print

Print from a mobile device

  1. Log in to your Essex email account. Open a new email and attach the file you wish to print.

  2. Send the email to mobileprinting@essex.ac.uk
    (warning) You must send your file from your Essex email account - using a non-Essex email account will not work

  3. Go to collect your print

(info) You have 8 hours to collect your print from a campus printer.

  1. At a campus printer, tap your Essex ID card on the card reader or log on using your Essex IT account.

  2. Choose Secure, Print, Scan and select the document you wish to print.

  3. Press Print and Delete (the delete means the file will be deleted from the printer queue).

  4. Collect your print from the dispenser tray.


Out of printer credit?

You can Request Top-up via MyEssex once every three months.

  • Sign into MyEssex

    • Using your external email address and passphrase

  • Click the Education Tab

  • Under “IT Support”, click Print Credit Top-up Form
