This article provides instructions for resolving issues with installing SPSS on macOS Sonoma.


Software Hub

SPSS 29 can be downloaded and installed via our Software Hub. The below instructions will then allow you to apply a fix for MacOS Sonoma users.


Instructions

  1. In your dock, click on Finder

  2. In the opened window, click Applications on the left-hand side

  3. Find the folder, “IBM SPSS Statistics” and double click to open it

  4. In the “IBM SPSS Statistics” folder, find “SPSS Statistics”

  5. Hold down CTRL on the keyboard and click Show Package Contents

ℹ️ A new window will open, showing the folder “Contents”

  1. Double click on the “Contents” folder to open it

  2. Find the folder “lib” and double click to open it

  3. Find the file called “libplatdep.dylib” and drag this to the desktop to back it up

  4. Click on the below file to download it

  1. Find the libplaydep.dylib file you just downloaded

  2. Hold down CTRL on the keyboard, click "libplatdep.dylib", then click Copy

  3. Back in the "lib" folder you have open, on the keyboard press Command + V to paste the file

    1. You will be asked if you want to replace the file, click Replace

  4. Open SPSS 29

    1. This should now run
