In some circumstances, access can be granted to external collaborators working with current staff.

💠 Step 1 - Register an Account
You must register for an account before you can use it. This guide will show you how to apply to use our High Performance Computing service.
💠 Step 1 - Apply for access
Please email snewman@essex.ac.uk with the following information:
Your full name
Your department
Your Essex email address
Your Essex username
If you're registering for a research collaborator, please also provide their name, email address and department/company.

💠 Step 2 - Connect to the VPN

Once you've been given access, you will need to connect to the University's VPN service to be able to access the HPC website, http://hpc.essex.ac.uk. This website contains all the information you need to get started.

💠 Step 3 - Set up multifactor authentication (MFA)
The HPC Cluster now service requires multifactor authentication (MFA) to log in. You will be asked to set up MFA for the HPC cluster the first time you log in. Please note this is in addition to the MFA you may already have set up for the University’s Office 365 services.
