The initial instructions will need to be carried out on an alternative network before being able to connect to Eduroameduroam.

  1. Open Google Chrome

    1. Alternatively, a browser of your choice

  2. Navigate to http://cat.eduroam.org/

    1. If you are unable to access this page due to security, please try using a private browser in Step 1.

  1. Download the Eduroam eduroam Installer for Chrome OS

  1. Navigate to chrome://net-internals/#chromeos

  2. From Import ONC File, click Import File

  1. Navigate to the ONC File

    1. The one you would have just downloaded

  2. Click OK to import

    1. If you have imported the ONC File and the text still says “No file Chosen”, please proceed to the next step as it may have already been selected.

  1. If prompted to section your institution, from the Home Institution list, select Essex University

  2. Enter the following settings when prompted:

Username

username@essex.ac.uk

Password

Your Essex Account Password

  1. Navigate to Chrome Settings

  2. Locate Internet Connection

  3. Click Wi-Fi Network

  4. Select Eduroam eduroam
